Mark Jones is one of the most experienced radio presenters on-air in the UK. Starting as a pimply youth in his hometown at BBC Manchester, he graduated to Liverpool’s Radio City, lost his pimples …and won several awards. These include a prestigious Sony for his hosting of the Michael Jackson Aintree Racecourse concert, (the ‘biggest solo concert in history’) entertaining a crowd of more than 125,000; he won ‘Regional Presenter of the month’ on numerous occasions, plus accolades from the Variety Club of Great Britain, where Mark has been Barker for many years.

These days, Mark is one of the most sought-after hosts for worldwide conferences, award ceremonies and sporting dinners. Mark has compèred thousands of events over the years, working with many of his sporting heroes; included in the (very) long list are David Beckham, Freddie Flintoff, Matt Le Tissier, Frank Bruno, Sir Richard Hadlee, Ryan Giggs, Sir Ian Botham and dozens with Sir Alex Ferguson. Mark even fronted a very successful “sportsmen’s-dinners-for-the-troops” tour of war-torn Kosovo in 2000 with England’s World Cup winners, Alan Ball and Jack Charlton. In 2011 alone, Mark has hosted events worldwide, including: Brunei, United States (three times), Malaysia, Portugal (twice), Germany (twice), Switzerland (twice) and Hungary, plus events throughout the UK.

Mark has been the regular live MC for the Masters’ Football Series for the past decade, (shown live on Sky Sports) and for the Masters International Tournaments in Dubai, UAE; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Brunei and Macau, China. During a recent South East Asia Tournament, he also presented all the live TV interviews for ESPN.

Mark has hosted Manchester United’s (for the past decade) and Aston Villa’s Player-of-the-Year awards, and hundreds of other prestigious awards ceremonies, such as the MBNA Football Awards at the Point Conference Centre at Lancashire Cricket Ground.

Mark was featured on Channel 4 and Sky Sports on all the One Day cricket Internationals, Test Matches and County games around the UK. He presented the pre-match interviews with cricket legends Sir Ian Botham, David Gower, Michael Holding, Richie Benaud, and ‘Bumble’, David Lloyd.

He has covered the Manchester United and Liverpool FC pre-season American Tours for UK radio, and, in 2001, was only a few blocks away from the World Trade Center Towers in lower Manhattan on that fateful 9/11 morning, where he volunteered to help the rescue services and reported ‘live’ from Ground Zero for UK radio.

After several very successful years at both North West & East Midlands regional Century FM* stations (*now Real Radio), Mark returned to Radio City’s Magic 1548 in Liverpool, to host a networked programme. He’s also heard on Manchester’s Magic 1152 (formerly Piccadilly Radio). Lately, he’s also been heard recently on US radio station W-E-F-T and Q-96 in Central Illinois – where he also hosted the black-tie American Heart Association Fundraising Dinners in Champaign, Illinois, in both 2010 and 2011.

Not limiting his talents to just radio, Mark has written and published several books, including the best-selling ‘Mark Jones’ Birthday Book’, which became the definitive UK Radio reference book.
